This is an original press photo. Captured by hostile natives and taken to a cave city, Jill St. John and David Hedison fearfully observe the starting of sacrificial fires in this scene from the screen version of the adventure story by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The picture, due to start Wednesday at the Plaza Theater, tells of an expedition led by a zoological professor, played by Claude Rains, into a prehistoric land in the remote recesses of the Amazon. Miss St. John has the role of the daughter of an American newspaper executive, who finances the trip, and Hedison portrays a reporter. Photo measures 6.25 x 8.5inches. Photo is dated 7-31-1960.

Press Photo Archaeologist Matthew Stirling in "In Search of the Lost World"

This is an original press photo. Before the birth of Christ, the Olmecs carved a date on a stone monument in Mexico's Veracruz state. When archaeologist Matthew W. Stirling, featured in "In Search of the Lost World," the GE Monogram Series special on ABC-TV's "The Monday Night Special" April 17 at 8 p.m. NYT, found the bottom fragment on a National Geographic-Smithsonian Institution expedition near Mexico's Gulf Coast in 1939, he had evidence that the Olmecs devised the calendar scholars originally attributed to the Mayas. Press Photo Dr. Michael Coe with Sketch in "In Search of the Lost World"

This is an original press photo. One of the world's foremost authorities on the Olmecs, Dr. Michael Coe holds a sketch of a were-jaguar rain god that he dug up during an archaeological expedition in San Lorenzo, Mexico. The Olmec culture, according to Dr. Coe who was MGM's scientific adviser for "In Search of the Lost World," airing Monday, April 17 (8-9:00 p.m., EST) on ABC Television Network's "The Monday Night Special," began around 1200 B.C. Both Dr. Coe and Dr. Matthew Stirling of the Smithsonian Institution recently authenticated an Olmec monument dating to 31 B.C. Photo measures 7.25 x 9.25inches. Photo is dated --none.
