Edwards, CA -- The experimental X-24B made its first landing on a concrete runway Tuesday at Edwards Air Force Base with chief NASA X-24B pilot John A Nanke at the controls. The purpose of the test was to demonstrate man's ability to maneuver and safely land an unpowered craft on a conventional runway, much in the same manner as the Space Shuttle will be required to do.
