1996 Press Photo Walt Disney Pictures presents James and the Giant Peach

A lonely boy named James finds some unusual new friends and unexpected adventures when he climbs inside an enormous peach and sets sail for New York City in Walt Disney Pictures "James and the Giant Peach" a magical musical fantasy-adventure which includes awesome stop-motion animation, stylish live-action and the latest in computer imagery and digital effects. Left: James surveys the ocean with Centipede (right) and Grasshopper. Upper right: A maternal Ladybug shows James that he has been magically transformed upon entering the peach. Bottom right: Grasshopper lends James his monocle to inspect a strange whirlpool in the ocean caused by an aggressive shark. Based on Roald Dahl's classic 1961 children's book, the film was directed by Henry Selick and features five wonderful new songs and an underscore by Randy Newman. "James and the Giant Peach" is produced by Denise Di Novi and Tim Burton. Brian Rosen and Henry Selick served as co-producers. Jake Eberts was the executive producer. A lonely boy named James is befriended by a likable group of bugs, including a grasshopper (left) and a centipede (right), when he magically enters an enormous peach and sets off on an adventure of a lifetime in Walt Disney Pictures' delightful new fantasy based on the Roald Dahl classic, "James and the Giant Peach." Directed by Henry Selick ("The Nightmare Before Christmas"), this captivating film includes 44 minutes of eye-popping, stop-motion animation surrounded by richly stylized live-action segments featuring Miriam Margolyes, Joanna Lumley, Paul Terry and Pete Postlewaite. Randy Newman wrote the five songs featured in the film and composed the underscore. Jake Eberts was the executive producer with Tim Burton and Denise Di Novi serving as producers.
