This is an original press photo. We have a new kind of film heroine in Elke Sommer. At first glance, the 23-year-old blonde actress from Germany seems all soft, cuddlesome femininity. But after spending one hour lunching with Elke at the M-G-M Studios near London, where she is starring with Peter Sellers in "A Shot in the Dark," I came away with the impression that she is a girl who knows exactly what she wants from life and from her career, and that nothing in the whole wide world will ever sidetrack her. It was only five years ago that Elke was working in England as a mother's helper for $5 a week. For her next picture, "The Battle of Telemark," to be made in Norway with Stephen Boyd, Elke will receive $150,000. And that increase didn't happen accidentally. "I was born in Berlin, November 5, 1940, a few months after the war began," Elke told me in a business-like tone. "It was hell to be born in the war. We were poor.
