This is an original press photo. An experimental submarine using hydrogen peroxide as a combustion agent slid down the ways as it was launched at Barrow-in-Furness, England. The Excalibur, the British navy's second such "sub," has the usual battery and main motors for propulsion and additional diesel-electric machinery fitted turbines fueled by burning diesel oil in decomposed hydrogen peroxide.
