1979 Press Photo Scene of USS Enterprise from "Star Trek - The Motion Picture"
The USS
Enterprise gets a place in space history. The dazzling Starship USS
Enterprise, whose real and fictional exploits span 500 years, soars
proudly once again in the ultimate space adventure, Paramount Pictures
"Star Trek - The Motion Picture." The pioneering United States Space
Shuttle which made its initial test flight in 1977 was christened by
order of the President in honor of the "Star Trek: flying craft. The
original television model of the Enterprise rests proudly at the
Smithsonian Institute's National Air and Space Museum in Washington D.C.
The new motion picture Enterprise has been completely refitted and
equipped with the finest weapons system in the fleet as it is ordered
back into immediate service as an unknown and awesome intruder, with the
most destructive power ever encountered, speeds toward Earth. "Star
Trek: The Wrath of Khan" is better than the first "Trekkie" movie
because it was created in the image of the original TV versions, its
producers say. "The Enterprise journeyed where no man has gone before."
