Bass, a noted graphics designer, pioneered in using film's title design and credits as an integral part of the film, and his work figured in countless pictures. Among his best remembered designs: (top row, from left) 'The Man With the Golden Arm," "Carmen Jones" and "Anatomy of a Murder"'; (bottom row) "Bonjour, Tristesse" "Exodus" and "Seconds."
